September 14, 1999 – Tokyo, Japan

TARU and his broken nose help to co-host this episode. Perhaps we’ll see how he hurt himself later on.

Genki Horiguchi vs. Susumu Mochizuki
Horiguchi pushes Mochizuki to the ropes to start. They fight over a wristlock and trade armdrags. Mochizuki goes after the leg. Horiguchi gets to the ropes. He hits an elbowdrop and then surfs on Mochizuki. He hits a head scissor takedown. They trade strikes until Horiguchi hits a dropkick. Mochizuki returns the favor. He hits the Ashi Yokosuka and puts on a figure 4 leglock. Horiguchi gets to the ropes. Mochizuki puts on another leglock. Horiguchi gets to the ropes. Mochizuki hits an exploder. He hits a northern light suplex for 2. He hits a diving kneedrop for 2. He hits the Yokosuka Driver for 2. Horiguchi hits the Beach Break but his leg is too hurt to go for the cover. He finally tries but it only gets 2. He goes for a moonsault but Mochizuki blocks with his knees. Mochizuki hits the Yokosuka Cutter for 2. He blocks a hurricanrana and put son a Boston crab. Horiguchi gets to the ropes. They trade roll ups until Horiguchi comes out on top for 2. Mochizuki puts on a cross armbreaker but Horiguchi gets to the ropes. He hits the Finlay roll for 2. He reapplies the cross armbreaker but Horiguchi gets to the ropes. Horiguchi puts on the GH Lock but Mochizuki goes to the knee to escape. Horiguchi misses a dive and Mochizuki hits the Jumbo no Kachi for 2. Horiguchi blocks the Yokosuka Cutter and hits a hurricanrana. He puts on the GH Lock for the win at 14:04. Mochizuki was basically winning an extended squash until the finish there. These two had pretty solid chemistry, taking a basic match and made it quite fun.

After the match the lights go out and Crazy Max comes to the ring. Magnum TOKYO comes out to keep them from being too long winded. He challenges TARU to a singles match to avenge his loss from the last tour. So that’s our main event. Masaaki Mochizuki comes out for his match against Chocoball KOBE.

Masaaki Mochizuki vs. Chocoball KOBE {CM}
KOBE hits a dropkick to the back before the bell. Mochizuki comes back with leg kicks. KOBE returns the favor. He slugs Mochizuki across the face. Mochizuki barely gets to his feet before getting counted out. He smacks KOBE. He hits a back kick. He hits a few bodyslams and puts on a Boston crab. KOBE gets to the ropes. Mochizuki hits a palm strike. KOBE puts on a triangle choke. Mochizuki slams his way out of it. He hits a missile dropkick. He hits a head kick and KOBE is out cold. Mochizuki hits a brainbuster for good measure but it only gets 2. He hits an axe kick. He hits the Sankakugeri but won’t go for the pin. KOBE tries to fight back so Mochizuki hits him with a lariat for the win at 5:09. Just a squishity squash.

Kenichiro Arai vs. Yasushi Kanda
Kanda has blue hair now. Arai gets a little tipsy on his way to the ring, thus proving he was indeed the first (and last) Deep Drunker. Kanda hits a clothesline to start. He has Susumu in his corner. Susumu was also in Masaaki’s corner, making me think the seeds of something big have already started. Kanda hits a bodyslam on the floor. He whips Arai into the crowd. Back in the ring Kanda hits a trio of bodyslams. He hits a back elbow and an elbowdrop for 2. He hits an exploder for 2. He puts on a Boston crab. Arai gets to the ropes. Kanda hits a diving elbowdrop for 2. He hits a powerbomb for 2. Five minutes into the match Arai gets his first bit of offense with a botched spot that Kanda saves by acting as though Arai gouged his eyes. Arai hits a snap suplex on the floor. He hits a chair shot. He crotches Kanda on the post. Back in the ring Arai chops Kanda to the mat. He hits a headbutt for 2. He hits a headbutt to the arm and puts on an armbar. Kanda blocks a headbutt and smacks Arai. They trade smacks in an exchange that Arai wins. Kanda hits an elbow to the head, but that just hurts his elbow. Arai hits a headbutt to the elbow. He hits a big boot. Kanda hits a German suplex for 2. He hits a hammerlock suplex for 2. Arai hits an armbreaker. He reapplies the armbar. Kanda comes back with a powerslam for 2. Arai hits a headbutt to the gut. Kanda hits a side slam. He misses the flying elbowdrop. He hits another side slam and the flying elbowdrop for 2. He hits a bodyslam and goes for another flying elbowdrop but Arai shakes the ropes. Arai hits an avalanche chinbreaker after a tough fight in the corner. He hits the 450 splash and the diving headbutt for the win at 14:27. That final stretch in the corner was totally awesome. Kanda has been on fire in these early shows, and Arai has been rocking it here and there as well.

SHIIMA {CM}, Sumo Fuji {CM} & SUWA {CM} vs. MAKOTO, SAITO & Stalker Ichikawa
We’re finally getting close to the final form of SHIIMA’s name. Ichikawa has a pink bunny singlet on over his usual gear. Crazy Max attacks before the bell. SHIIMA hits Ichikawa with the Venus. SUWA smacks SAITO to the mat. He hit a slam and an elbowdrop. Fuji goes to the eyes. He slugs MAKOTO. He and SUWA hit the Hart Attack. SHIIMA hits a pair of legdrops for 1. Ichikawa tags in but then thinks better of it. SUWA catapults SAITO into the ropes. He hits a back kick. He hits a back elbow. Ichikawa still won’t tag in, so Fuji beats on MAKOTO. MAKOTO comes back with a dropkick. SUWA hits SAITO with another back elbow. He hits a low blow to stop a SAITO dropkick. SHIIMA demands Ichikawa wrestle. He easily escapes a headlock. He blocks an eye poke and hits a press slam. That’s probably the only time you’ll ever see SHIIMA hit that move. Ichikawa hits the Kancho. He hits an eye poke. He falls off the ropes and SHIIMA mocks him. SHIIMA hits a spin kick. Fuji hits SAITO with palm slaps. He hits an avalanche. He hits a side slam for 2. SAITO counters the chokeslam to a cross armbreaker. SHIIMA makes the save. Ichikawa misses a crossbody. He crotches SHIIMA up top and hits him with the Venus. SHIIMA easily blocks the Iconoclasm. He hits a huge atomic drop. Ichikawa hits a head scissor takedown to the floor. He goes to the eyes and hits a suicide dive. SUWA hits MAKOTO with a DDT. He hits a flapjack for 2. MAKOTO hits a low blow. He hits an avalanche head scissor takedown. SAITO gets a sunset flip for 2. Ichikawa puts on a full nelson. MAKOTO and SAITO accidentally hit him with a double missile dropkick. SHIIMA hits a suicide dive. Ichikawa hits Fuji with the Kancho. He hits a lariat but it does nothing to Fuji. He hits one to the back but Fuji only cares about the Kancho wound. Ichikawa goes to the eyes. He goes for a chokeslam but Fuji easily blocks it and hits a powerslam for 2. Fuji hits a chokeslam for the win at 16:43. This was just a silly vehicle for Ichikawa to do his thing against guys at the top of the card.

Magnum TOKYO vs. TARU {CM}
TARU attacks before the bell. He keeps the upper hand aggressively. He hits chair shots on the floor. Back in the ring he hits a headbutt to the groin. TOKYO comes back with a leg lariat. He hits a baseball slide. They trade smacks and kicks. TARU hits a lariat. He hits a brainbuster for 2. He hits a pair of chest kicks. TOKYO hits a missile dropkick. He follows TARU to the floor with a baseball slide and a quebrada. Crazy Max attacks TOKYO en masse. In the ring TARU sets TOKYO in the Tree of Woe and beats on him. Chocoball KOBE jumps on the apron and turn on Crazy Max, hitting them with a baton. They chase him out of the arena. TOKYO hits TARU with a lariat for 2. In the back Crazy Max catches and destroys KOBE. In the ring TOKYO hits TARU with the Gyrating Frankensteiner. He gets la magistral for 2. TARU blocks the Viagra Driver. He hits the T-Crush for 2. He hits an avalanche T-Crush for 2. He hits a diving headbutt for 2, breaking his own nose. He hits a moonsault for 2. He hits the TARU Driller for 2. TOKYO drops him on his head with a German suplex. It gets 2. TOKYO hits a moonsault for 2. He hits a superplex for 2. He hits a lariat to the back, the Viagra Driver and the AV Star Press for the win at 15:25. I might have been expecting too much from this match, but it was just an overbooked mess of nothing much. The only positive here was that TARU was kept strong by TOKYO having to hit all of his signature moves in succession to put him down.

After the match Crazy Max attacks TOKYO but KOBE makes the save. That doesn’t do anything so Masaaki Mochizuki runs out and makes the save for real. Mochizuki shakes KOBE’s hand, respecting him for leaving Crazy Max and for taking Mochizuki’s punishment earlier in the show.
